Tonight I spent hours with a group of faeries working up ideas for our HIV prevention campaign for Pride. We've got a great group of potentials, that we need to build up into a reality. Some of the messages are scary, some clever, some funny, some sexy, all are informative, and all are good. Now we refine and play around with images, we get our facts together, and then we go to press. It's going to be a really cool series of things. I can't wait to have them out there!

I'm starting to develop some good habits now.

Going to sleep at a reasonable hour (midnight-ish)
Waking up at a reasonable hour (7:ish)
Eating a breakfast (even if it's just cereal and coffee)

And today, I realized how easy it is to walk to work. I'm literally only 7 blocks away from my office, and I left my house at 9:10 and got to work at 9:35.

That's amazing.

Now that the weather is warming up, I may take up this habit of walking to and from work. If anything it may help the fact that these size 40 pants are way the hell too tight.

I'm feeling kind of BLEH today. So I'm staying home.

But I've been in interview panels for the last two days, I've taken like a dozen pages of notes, and I feel like I'm developing carpal tunnel from writing so much with my hand...

It really hurts all up my forearm.

Yesterday I was out sick from work, and I slept most of the day. Unfortunately this resulted in me not getting to sleep until about 4:00 a.m. this morning. I was rolling and rolling and tossing and turning and my brain would not stop thinking

about getting married.

See, I was watching Ace of Cakes the other day and I knew that we had to order a cake from them for our wedding. Cause basically they can make anything and we are going to be having a highly unorthodox wedding anyhow.

Then I started thinking about where to have it. And people. And potties. And costumes. And Rings. And who would do the service. And food. And honeymoon. And money.

My brain would not shut off. Not at all. I felt like I was going crazy with details and we haven't even picked a date yet.

I chalk it up to fever and good ideas.

Incidentally I'm slightly feeling better today, still ill, but coping mightily, and no fever dreams of wedding days. Though I'm thinking I need to start a list soon of all the things we need and the costs associated and starting a general fund for the wedding... Why I've put this off til now is beyond me.

The cake alone is going to cost a fortune.

I've been dealing with some interpersonal drama, and the run-around of work and I'm just really tired.

At least I'm nearly done with that book I've been reading. That's the problem with reading, it takes so damn long when you don't have hours and hours to dedicate to reading. Manga is easy and fast. These Pagan books are worthwhile, but gods they take me forever to finish.

I've got to get to doing some housecleaning.

Oh, and poisoning the mice. I think their rampant behavior in the house is doing nothing for my allergies and my recurring sickness. Same with all the piles of junk.

I'm just going to try and purge and purge and purge.

I'm feeling like crap today. I've got this runny nose, that could be allergies, could be illness. Not quite sure.

Gee I wish I had some fucking HEALTH INSURANCE! I might go see a doctor or something.

See, HR at the DC Public Library has neglected to file my health insurance paperwork for SIX MONTHS. Needless to say I'm a little peeved about it. Especially at times like this.

At least it's a holiday day. I'm trying desperately to try and clean some things up but. But when I have to stop for hours just cause I'm sneezing, it's kind of a problem. Thank god we've stocked up on tissues.

Now to make some food.

And I'm not going to faeries like this.

I woke up this morning puking.

Not because of anything fun that happened last night mind you, but because I've been sick as a dog all night and into this morning.

And today I turn 31.

What a suckass way to start your birthday.

Spent the evening catching up on Red Dragon stuff. Trying to work out an online payment process, but that's proving a little difficult. Teddy's on it now.

Watched two classic Doctor Who episodes last night, and a report on those will be forthcoming. I finished reading Lon DuQuette's newest book "The Key to Solomon's Key" and I'll be working up a review for that as well.

My ears have been kind of burst for the last few days so everything I hear is kind of maginified and underwater sounding. It's extremely annoying.

I heard from my mother via voicemail. She tells me all is well and that I got the money to her just in time. Thank goodness.

I also heard from our sales rep and we're going to have a conference call about Harry Potter on Friday. I expect that to go well. There's probably some contractual arrangement for HP that we have to sign to make sure that we don't release it early and stuff. Actually I was talking to CJ last night and I thought we could have a Harry Potter Party at my house and open the boxes at midnight. That could be fun!

I'm in the office again today. Though the flushing out of the whatever this is that I have is still going on. But it's at a manageable pace now and I'm feeling way way way WAY better. A teency bit sore, but that's to be expected.

My boss told me that there are multiple people all over the office who have this right now so its DEFINITELY going around. And from the looks of it it's just viral, not food poisoning.

But for now things are manageable. Its amazing what a body can get used to really.

Yesterday jcruisedirector moved in. So we rearranged the living room to accommodate him as best as possible and it looks like a little studio apartment down there. Yes he's in a cast and yes we've got horribly steep stairs. because there's more room outside he was able to get in on the crutches but he's been maneuvering around the house by crawling. I told him that seeing him coming from behind the pew made me thing of one of those Japanese horror movies like "The Grudge" and I started making the creaking sound. We laughed a lot.

Watched almost all of "Dexter" yesterday at the suggestion of witchypoojr. I don't know if it's just predictable or if I'm just really clever, but lots of the things that I said to Marcus in passing came out over the course of the show. We got up to the "Father Knows Best" episode so we haven't gotten all the way to the ending yet. It's been good though. Freaky as all hell, but good. I think my friends queenlaura75 and sqrlcub would like it.

Not much else to report.

I slept all the way through the night. From 12:00 to 9:30 and I didn't have to wake up and go running to the bathroom. Went this morning and things are looking substantially better, all puns intended.

I'm going to go back to sleep and savor the ability to actually sleep.

Called in to work again, but I think this is the last day of calling in. :)

I'm feeling slightly better today.

But I'm going to go lay back down and watch the last two episodes of Torchwood.

Or is it still ill? Either way, I'm home today and feel awful again. I'm probably going to take myself to the doctor later on in the day.

Fritter

I've been out since last Friday. It's now Thursday. Only 2 days of work this week. Not bad.

JD and I are feeling worlds better today. Everything is slowly coming back to normal.

Had Faerie Circle Keeper's meeting last night. It was incredibly good and we've got some fantastic things that are going to be happening this year. Not to mention that our financial solvency has increased substantially. Lots of good news all around for us.

Saw the three episodes of Dr. Who season 2 that I missed: New Earth, Tooth and Claw and School Reunion. OMG, School Reunion made me cry. A lot. That scene where Sarah Jane finds the TARDIS and she turns around and looks at the new Doctor. All those feelings flooding back, it was just incredible. Then JD and I started watching Torchwood. It's somewhere between CSI and X-Files, and I like it. Though I don't understand why they're always standing on top of buildings. Maybe it's just for dramatic effect, but it's a bit silly if you ask me.

Watched Clerks II yesterday as well. That was pretty good. It definitely had some good moments. The racist slang scene was priceless, as was the pillowpants story, and of course Kinky Kelly. I liked it, and it was worth the rental fee.

Tonight, more Torchwood and catching up on Top Chef.

Health insurance is complicated and confusing.

ETA: Done. Waded through the brochures and pages upon pages of explanations and stuff, and just decided to ask someone else (who I trust!) what they had and went with that. Thank the Gods of Adobe for creating forms that you can automatically fill out in quintuplicate online with repeating fields, thus only having to fill out the thing once. All I had to do was sign it five times.

UGH! First blister of the season, blossoming now in the corner of my mouth.

I fucking hate these things.

I usually get them when I'm stressed out, getting over a cold or when my moustache has been irritating my lip. I must have gotten the tiniest bit sick at Feast and stressed out from the job thing.

*sigh*

Tired - God I'm exhausted. When I get home tonight I think I'm just going to totally crash and hard. I'm like a month behind on sleep and my back is killing me. UGH!

Pics - So, I've been noticing that the pics all have this weird blur in them. I'd noticed this before, but didn't think anything of it until I saw the really nice pics with a big fat blur on it. So I looked at the lens on the digi-cam and there was this big sticky stain on it! Ew! So I took one of CJ's sterile prepacked glasses wipes with some kind of alcohol like fluid on it and gently cleaned the lens. Hopefully that will help in getting the images to focus better.

Cramp - I've had a nasty leg cramp for the last 2 days. I'm getting my blueberry banana shake at lunch. I've been behind on that one. I usually get one every monday, but it's been more sporadic of late. Gotta get back into the habit of that.

Boots - Yeah, I know i needed better shoes, and honestly better pants with that outfit. I got done all I could accomplish in the small amount of time that I had. Personally, I'm not much of a fan of boots in general. I think they're a bitch to put on and take off. Something smaller and more of a slip on shoe is just easier for me. Plus, looking at some of the costume boots online... they just don't do it for me. I like to be more matchy in my color palette, and the black boots on that outfit I created just doesn't seem right. Small leather shoes, tights and knickers... That might be the right choice. But more on that another time.

Sewing - I do still kind of want to finish up JD's hat and also to finally finish Peggy's hat. Once I'm done with those I might be ready to pick up the quilt again. I'm very close to finishing the backing and all I need to do is get the filler, tack it and start quilting the hell out of it.

A while back I posted about my cousin's baby Jamysen who suffered a pretty serious head injury, and asked for those who do the prayer thing to keep him in mind.

Well, Jamysen is making a fantastic recovery! After all the surgeries and blood transfusions and round-the-clock medical care he's doing really really well. His neckbrace has been removed, and the physical therapy has gotten to the point where he can walk in a special body bracing bicycle type of thing (though only for a little while at a time). It's looking like he's on the way to a very good place physically. He'll be leaving the hospital very soon and heading home.
